What to Expect @ DUMC
Curious what to expect at Denver United Methodist Church? We provide a church with multiple worship styles so you can attend the one that best matches your needs. Our worship services are designed to be inspirational and relevant to your life so you can take what you learn out the doors with you.
We encourage you to stop by our Welcome Center, which is located outside the side doors of our Sanctuary on the northern side of the campus.
Which Service Should I Attend?
- The message is the same in each service. However, we offer various styles in music and format. Each service happens in our Sanctuary.
- We offer a traditional service at 8:15 a.m. with a choir, communion the first Sunday of each month, liturgy readings and prayer. The dress at this service tends to be casual to semi-casual.
- Our Praise and Worship service is at 9:30 a.m. The dress is casual and the music includes electric guitars, drums and our praise band. We offer videos and other visual cues to accompany the sermon.
- You will find our 10:30 a.m service to be a Blended style of Worship. We have a choir and, in addition, our music includes many solos, hymns and even praise and worship style music. The dress is casual to semi-casual.
What About My Children?
- All our children and youth workers are required to go through our Safe Sanctuary training which includes a background check. We do this to ensure the safety of God's greatest blessing, our children.
- Birth to Pre-K: We offer a fully-staffed nursery and pre-K program for ages birth through pre-kindergarten on the first floor of our Sanctuary building during all service times. For our littlest ones, we give parents a pager so we can let you know if there is any problem.
- K to 5th grade: We have Sunday School at 9:30 a.m. for your elementary aged children. The Kindergarten and First Grade meet on the first floor of the Sanctuary building. 2nd through 5th grade meets on the second floor of our Family Life Center (gym) where the rooms are marked accordingly. They meet on the backside of the building from Hwy. 16. During our 10:30 a.m. hour, we offer a full worship service in our Family Life Center. For anyone new, just go to the specially marked table at the back entrance of the Family Life Center. Children will remain in worship until parents have been released from service and picked up their children. During the summer from Memorial Day Sunday to Labor Day Sunday, children are dismissed from the sanctuary for a children's program and returned to the sanctuary during the last hymn.
- Youth (6th to 12th grade): Sunday School for this age group is offered at 9:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. since they often attend different services. At 9:30 a.m., the middle school meets on the second floor of the Family Life Center, on the opposite side of the building from Hwy. 16. Senior High meet on the first floor of the FLC beside the stage, dubbed the Solar Youth Lounge. At 10:30 a.m., youth meet in the Administrative Building, located on the South Side of the Sanctuary building on the first floor.
- We have many various ministries of each going on throughout the week so visit their individual web page for more information. The links are located on the sidebar of this page.
What About Me?
- We offer Adult Sunday School classes at 9:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. for various ages, study types and interests. A brochure about the various classes is located at our Welcome Center.
